I've had so many people at Amazon ask me about how I think AI will impact the software development industry, and if people will be able to adapt.
The truth is that software development has always been a fast-moving industry. People have always had to stay up to date with current technology and methodologies.
Therefore, I feel no worry towards my own ability to adapt. The only case for AI being different is that it's moving at a very quick pace, debatably more than other technologies have changed the field in the past.
But in the early days of my career, I'm already expected to be learning new things daily. At any stage in history, people fresh to this industry have infinite things to learn at the same fast rate.
So in a sense, I've got my own advantage in the fact that I'd be learning fast either way, so it makes no difference for me. No matter how AI changes in the next year, none of us interns are too set in our ways, and we're always willing to change.
Learning is already the standard in the industry - so keep an open mind to it just as an entry-level engineer would.
